Heroes(MAJOR):

Sentinels of Liberty and Justice (Sentinels)
Uberman: The leader of the Sentinels of Liberty and Justice. Uberman originates from the planet Earth, where he used his mechanized body suit to help his people fight against the oppression of the nazis. After the war, Uberman came to Khazan where he felt his abilities were needed. Very little of his physical body remains due to irrepairable damage, but his mind and soul live on within the large humanoid mechanized armor. In addition to superhuman strength, speed, and durability, Uberman is a master of martial arts and possesses concussive Wrist Blasters. He leads the SLJ and, to a degree, the Khazan military forces in their effort to counter the legions of Drekis.

Captain Khazan: Known outside of his superhero personae as Trent Young; Young was the sole survivor of a nuclear blast which devastated everything in a ten mile radius. After the blast, Trent was nursed back to health at an SLJ medical bay. Trent developed superhuman powers as a result, though exactly why is unknown. Trent suffered from being unaccustomed to life as a metahuman, and his inability to control his powers led his wife and children to abandon him. The SLJ helped Trent deal with the trauma as well as nurture his newfound powers. He ended up joining the Sentinels and took the name Captain Khazan, as fellow heroes Atisha and Nurse Helia suggested. He possesses hardened skin that makes him nearly invulnerable, increased strength, and the ability to fly. Captain Khazan assists Uberman in the fight against Drekis.

Vincentzo Maiinverno: A pompous, arrogant sorcerer who hails from a different reality. His people were sealed away in a dark dimension, where they struggled for centuries against a terrible enemy. As the prince and last hope of his people, Centzo left his homeland to travel the multiverse in search of knowledge and power. As a person of unmatched magical power in his homeland, Maiinverno was surprised to learn that he was not the most powerful being in existence. However, this realization only made him seek ways of increasing his power--to rise up as an unequaled ruler among rulers. Hearing of the nexus of all realities, Vincentzo decided to come to Khazan, where he could gain the most experience. After arrival, he affiliated himself with the SLJ. Years later he would play a pivotal role in uniting a roguish land called Araelis. He reorganized the land into a fuctioning State-kingdom, with himself as the ruler of course. Maiinverno is just starting to establish his new kingdom when the appearance of the Drekis empire threatens to destroy everything he's accomplished.

Shinsuke Yagami: Originally an aspring youth who wanted to combat evil with his power of fire, Shinsuke ended up losing sight of his path and became a hero for glory and prestige. He was gravely injured during a fight, and ended up being cryogenically frozen until repairs on his body could be finished. Unfortunately, the deep freeze prevented his body from receiving nutrition and sensory output. When he awoke, Shinsuke was a cold shell of his former self. However, Shinsuke learned to control the strange cold which emanated from his body; not only could he use this power to freeze objects, but the cryogenic freeze gave him an enhanced sense that allows him to feel the body temperature of a person from fifty yards away. With his new powers, Shinsuke Yagami set out to become a hero and fight once more--this time to combat evil as he had originally intended. He is a member of the SLJ, and was brought into Uberman's party by chance circumstances during the war. He now fights to rid the nexus of Drekis.

Natsumi Shirai: A young girl who, at the age of ten, sneaked into her grandfathers shinto shrine and took a scroll that contained a magic spell. She read the spell, which was meant to be received by a chosen warrior, and as a result was bestowed with the power it held. Natsumi is now the owner of three mysterious creatures. These Sikigami/Shikigami familiars include a green blob, a bat, and a weasel. The blob and bat are capable of draining an opponents physical and mental abilities respectively, and the weasel acts as an invulnerable shield who lunges in the way of anything that would cause Natsumi harm. The problem is that Natsumi is deathly afraid of monsters, and the arrival of the Sikigami scared her half to death. As a result of her screaming, she discovered that her scream could generate powerful sonic waves. The people of her village spoke of destiny, and how she was to become a hero. Unfortunately, Natsumi as always felt that this destiny was thrust upon her; she just wants to be an ordinary child, but now she has been forced to play the role of a Khazan hero. Now eleven, Natsumi has become slightly familiar with her creatures, but they still freak her out from time to time. She is still waging an internal battle, trying to decide what she should do with her life. As she is facing this conflict, the War of Drekis begins.

Raea Shalhalla* A young, energetic redhead with a strong sense of justice. Raea Shalhalla was a childhood friend of Timothy Shinestar who later became his girlfriend as they grew up together. Both of them had dreams of becoming a hero and competing in the Fantasy Powers League; Raea started on her dream at the age of 18, where she both competed and signed on with the SLJ. Although Tim did not immediately follow her, she continued to be a strong source of support for him. Now that Tim has become a Sentinel, she feels that they can live thier ultimate fantasy: to fight crime together as a couple and travel throughout the nexus seeking adventure. Raea is technically a normal human, but she achieves metahuman levels of power through a specialized power suit that conforms to her body. The suit contains many concealed weapons and augments her strength and speed while also providing flight systems, radar, and added defenses. She fights alongside Tim in the War of Drekis, and wants to help him understand the meaning of his heritage.

Timothy Shinestar:* A silver-haired young man of about twenty years of age. Tim grew up with Raea with the hope that they would both become heroes. His true inspiration was his father, an elusive figure that he barely remembers since he dissapared when he was young. His mother was also absent from his life, having apparently died during childbirth. One of the few things he remembers about his father is that he was a powerful hero who wielded a magic sword. The sword was left to him as his inheritance, and it is also the only link to his father that he still possesses. For years Tim could not figure out the powers of the sword, and so his journey to become a hero was a long one. After valiantly aiding the escape of several heroes--including Uberman--from the Marauder occupied city of Zel'Myas, Tim was sworn into the ranks of the Sentinels with the approval of its leader. Tim believed that he had completed a phase of his life when he officially became a hero, but his confidence wavered when he was called before Queen Amanda Relissan of Axia and told the truth about his father. His father, who carries the actual family name of Sarachus, was someone who used his mysterious power to fight Drekis in the past. Now, for some reason that he does not understand, Tim has inherited the power--supposedly the only power--that can destroy Drekis. He is still trying to figure out the nature of his powers and his destiny, and during his journey a strange voice begins to speak in his consciousness, telling him to beware of how he uses the power.

Elwin D'Larthi: Vice-President of Khazan and a veteran member of the SLJ's ruling council. She is a legend among the heroes of Khazan, and one of the first League champions of the current generation. She has participated in many important battles, including dire contentions with the ominous Quietus. She is a 'magical girl,' a term for those who wield a specific kind of magic; she is quite fond of her deafening "FIREBALLLL" spell. Elwin is also an experienced sword fighter, who wields a blade that she named Sara. Elwin is married to another famous hero, Ryoko Pharis, and is mother to two children, Rywin and El-Ko. Her duties as a political leader and as a mother has taken her away from the usual actions of a Sentinel, but she remains a hero in her heart, and is always ready to fight again if necessary. During the war, Elwin usually supports the heroes and military of Khazan from her position as Vice-President.

Maniacal Heroes (Reavers)

Note: They were called the Maniacal Heroes when the fic began, and then had the name changed to Reavers. Although this doesn't have to be official, I imply in one chapter that the Reavers are currently a sub-group in the Maniacal Heroes that are steadily gaining momentum and popularity among the MH. The implication there, of course, is that the group as a whole will adopt their name.

Lexington Miles:* A rune sorcerer who grew up in the slums of Lowtown. Lexington was originally a "bad-boy," the kind of youth who rebelled against society. He never committed any major crimes, but he was the kind of untamed, irresponsible teen that made mature adults shake their head in frustration. As he got older, Lexington's talent for trouble nearly got him involved with the law. During that time, he met Lara Corners, a young woman who worked with the Maniacal Heroes. The two became friends, and soon enough they became lovers. His relationship and experiences with Lara helped Lex realize how immature he had been in the past. He came to hate what he had been as a youth, and he despised true criminals even more. He joined up with the Maniacal Heroes and, with Lara, became a part of the sub-group called the Reavers. Lexington is, because of his attitude, an antihero of sorts, but he is generally a good guy who wants to do good things. It just so happens that his notion of justice involves his fist beating a criminal into a bloody pulp before they are carried off to jail. His rune magics allow Lex to move at superfast speeds and increase his senses. He can also use a spell that channels energy around his hand, allowing him to cut objects as if his hand were a blade. Lex fights alongside the other heroes of the nexus to destroy Drekis.

Lara Corners:* A Half-StarElf who came to the Main Continent of Khazan with the intention of becoming a Sentinel. The Star Elf Culture has a much different philosophy when it comes to the ethics of criminal justice, and although Lara isn't quite as extreme as her pure blooded relatives, she felt that the policies of the SLJ weren't working for her. Seeking something different, she eventually came to the Maniacal Heroes, where she joined as part of the underground sub-group called the Reavers. Lara later met a brash young man named Lexington Miles, and the two fell in love after a complicated affair. Her rather unique gift is the ability to channel magic energy through her tennis racket, which is then transferred into objects that she strikes with it. Her usual attacks involve hitting tennis balls at her opponents which become explosive projectiles after her delivery. She is a calm and optimistic individual who fights against Drekis to help return hope to the people of Khazan.

Veda Lexine: A reacuring character that plays a role is several events throughout the story, Veda is a traveling swordswoman who was residing in the village of Karia in Zel'Mier before the war broke out. Years ago she was wounded by an opponent known as Dementia; the wounds inflicted on her were mostly mental, and threatened to overwhelm her psyche. During her trauma, she was discovered by someone known only as the Great Mentalist, who tried to cure the damage that Dementia had inflicted. He could not reverse what Dementia had done, but he discovered that Dementia had inadvertantly awakened certain abilities in Veda that she never knew she possessed. Eventually the Great Mentalist taught Veda to control her powers. Now, Veda can channel her pain into her sword, a katana, in order to damage her opponents mentally. She uses a technique called Shen Si Jian which absorbs her enemy's mental fortitude and uses it to increase her own. She became a member of the Maniacal Heroes because she is a firm believer that killing wrongdoers is a necessary evil if the situation requires it. She first appears when defending the village of Karia from Marauders, then reappears to help Tim free the Marauder's captives in Zel'Myas. Afterwards, she disapeared into the fog of war that enraptured the planet, but met up with the main characters again in Axia, where she has been training to improve her skills.
