Philosophy-psychology-Religious Symbols-The Human Condition

A page devoted to analyzing the mysteries and themes of Neon Genesis Evangelion

Introduction
Welcome to my webpage devoted to Neon Genesis Evangelion (Translated= New Genesis Gospel). Evangelion is a very popular Japanese Animated series that was created in 1995-1996 in Japan. The series is extremely controversial, and acts as an experiment by director Hideaki Anno to explore the aspects of the Human Condition, or in other words: what it means to be human. The series gained its controversial status because of its use of Philosophical themes and psychological ideas. The series gives its viewers a number of characters who each have their own mental disorders, and each of them presents their own ideas on the nature of humanity, the purpose of existence, and the value of their
own life. Of course, the series is also very controversialbecause of its religious symbols. Evangelion is certainly a genre-breaker which appears to be a run-of-the-mill giant mech action series, but soon grows into something much more. Many people have spent the last 5 years talking about the different mysteries of the series, because, while it may have ended long ago, it left behind many unanswered questions intentionally so the viewers could form their own analysis. The final two episodes of the series "Ending of a World" and "The Beast that cried "I" at the Heart of the World" are full of controversial psychology and philosophical talk, most of which the viewers could not understand. My task, as of this moment, is to be one of those people who has been brave (or perhaps crazy) enough to analyze the characters, themes, and events of Evangelion, and from this, form my own conclusion of what Philosophy Hideaki Anno has on the Human Condition.
